United Airlines Suspends All India Service Until September 1st

United Airlines is extending the suspension of both of its India routes until at least September 1st.

First it was the Pakistani airspace closure. Then it was saber-rattling over Iran. Then the Federal Aviation Administration banned flying in Iranian airspace. Now United is suspending its service between Newark and both New Delhi and Mumbai until September.

Air India suspends pilot for allegedly shoplifting at Sydney airport

Air India on Sunday suspended a senior pilot for allegedly shoplifting at Sydney airport on Saturday. According to the suspension order accessed by Hindustan Times, the pilot was supposed to fly AI 301 on June 22 and is alleged to have lifted goods from a Duty free shop there.

Southwest Airlines Mechanics Approve Contract

The union representing about 2,500 Southwest Airlines mechanics voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to ratify a new contract proposal, ending a labor impasse that lasted nearly seven years and wound up in court twice.

The five-year deal gives the mechanics $160 million in back pay to cover the period since the last contract ended in August 2012, increases salaries 20 percent immediately and includes 3 percent annual raises, according to the union, the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association.
